Library Information Skills

The Cocalico High School librarian teaches within a completely flexible schedule, allowing for the integration of information skills into core subjects and special areas on all grade levels. Students learn information literacy skills and then use them as they complete tasks and projects for their classes. The information literacy skills include using a research model for projects as well as a literacy component. Skills that are covered include the use of an on-line catalog, database use, Internet searching and website evaluation, determining research needs, narrowing topics, locating and using appropriate resources, note-taking strategies, and documentation of resources.
