Family & Consumer Sciences (FCS)

Family and Consumer Sciences is designed to teach students life skills through various courses.

Courses:

Foods & Baking and Multicultural Foods
Students learn how to cook on a budget, follow nutritional guidelines, prepare cultural cuisines, cook using various cooking methods, measure ingredients properly, and the importance of kitchen safety and sanitation.

Sewing and Fashion Design Levels 1 and 2
Students learn how to use multiple sewing techniques, measure, read a pattern, dress for success, follow directions to complete several projects, fashion design, and fashion history.

Child Development
Students explore theories, stages, development, types of play, lesson planning, psychology, emotions, the importance of literacy, and parenting skills.

Adult and Family Living
Students work on developing the necessary skills for transitioning into adulthood through decision-making, time management, consumerism, finances, budgeting, managing a household, career development, caring for children, and personal development.
